I must not be the intended audience for this book, as I have had run several blogs and managed my own sites using other software, just not with Wordpress. I figured this would give me a overview of all of the features and an example of their use. Instead I got a primer on how to blog, how to upload an image and how to make a post....ugh. Almost nothing is mentioned about the CMS features of Wordpress, which is why I wanted it in the first place.
In my opinion this book is for absolute beginners only.

Massive amounts of well-written and helpful information and detail and step-by-step instructions. This is a worthwhile book to have if you have or want to start a blog at Wordpress. It extensively covers both the freebie Wordpress.com and the Wordpress.org program you can download free .
I am starting my second blog at Wrodpress, and I would not be without it. I refer to it frequently.

But be advised: I bought the Kindle edition, same content but, as far as I can tell, it lacks the index this print version has. Perhaps those that configured the book for Kindle thought that the Kindle search capacity would suffice. It just doesn't always work well for me, though, so I miss the index. So I would give the Kindle edition only 4 starts.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend this book.

I bought this for my daughter's 8th birthday & it was a hit! She absolutely adores it. There are a number of different looks to choose from & a variety of stickers. My daughter is crazy about Monster High (she has all of the dolls), & she enjoys drawing, & fashion so this was a great fit for her. I've gotten her other fashion sketch books, but this, by far, is the best one.

Well, I upgraded my business from QuickBooks 2011 to QuickBooks 2012 just over a month ago now.

At first, I'll have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed - the 2012 version seems pretty much just like the 2011 version to a non-accountant like me. On top of that, I kept running into the problem where it wouldn't launch because it said a previous instance was still running. After a couple of weeks, I was starting to wish I hadn't bothered. (As a side note, we run QuickBooks on the 64-bit version of Windows 7.)

Fortunately, Intuit released an update that finally fixed the previous instance problem and I was able to focus on the application instead of just trying to get it launched.

Although it still seems mostly like the 2011 version - there is one updated feature that makes this upgrade well worth it for us. That feature is local document attachments! (Seriously, what were they thinking when they went to an online subscription model for attachments?!)

The document attachment interface works very well and we can put in attachments pretty much anywhere we want.

This works great for a business like ours since we deal with firearms and there is a lot of red tape and government involvement. QuickBooks now offers a convenient place for us to file away scanned copies of many of those forms that we have to keep on hand. (Of course, there are some that we still have to keep in a filing cabinet in paper form. Leave it to the gov't to come up with the lowest tech requirements possible - fax machines anyone?)

Overall, I would recommend this upgrade if the local document attachment feature matters to you - and I suspect it will to many people. Aside from that, I don't see anything else that would compel me to upgrade.

I have been a QuickBooks user since 1992 and it was a nifty product, relatively inexpensive at about $59 and served my purpose well. However, every time I upgraded the product after 1999, I ran into serious problems-like not being able to open the data file, download the transactions from the bank or get the payroll to work. And getting technical support from QuickBooks is almost impossible. But QuickBooks always found a way to force the upgrade and I had to upgrade from QuickBooks Pro 2006 to QuickBooks Pro 2009 because they stopped downloading the bank transactions. As a user you got the impression that company that produced nifty products has been suddenly taken over by crooks who fleeced the users of their products. So I adopted a policy, never to upgrade QuickBooks, unless I have to. But I got QuickBooks Premier through the Amazon Vine program and I decided to try to upgrade.

I must say, this is the 1st time since 1999, that the QuickBooks upgrade went flawlessly. Everything worked this time. QuickBooks Premier 2012, upgraded my QuickBooks Pro 2009 file to work with the new version. There was no problem doing the data conversion. The bank transactions downloaded in the new version, the payroll worked, and the only problem I am encountering is that every time I try to back up the QuickBooks file, it wants to rebuild the data file. I find QuickBooks Premier 2012 to be faster than QuickBooks Pro 2009. Finally, Intuit managed to produce less buggy, but not bug-free Quickbooks!

QuickBooks 2012 comes in 3 versions: Plus-which is online, Pro and Premier. On Intuit website, there is a table which compares the features of 3 versions. For most people, QuickBooks 2012 Pro version should be good enough and most cost effective, it works with QuickBooks payroll. Features of Premier version like creating business plan, consolidating reports from multiple company files, finding and locating inventory tasks etc. are not useful and worth extra money to me.

When it comes to business accounting software with the ability to do payroll, QuickBooks is pretty much the only game in town. Unfortunately QuickBooks Mac version is not as robust and lacks many of the features of Windows version.

For most people, QuickBooks Pro version should work and provide most buck for the bang. And Quickbooks 2012 is not as buggy, as some of the previous versions have been. The reasons for three stars are lack of technical support and the program still has minor bugs.

Awesome 3D screen, Great speed and YouTube 3D, September 7, 2011

The first 3D phone in the world and has finally popped up in the USA! The LG Thrill(Optimus 3D) is packing some serious power and a high quality 3D screen.

This phone should appeal to anyone that likes 3D and video games. The glasses free 3D screen looks great in 2D and 3D. It is very similar in quality to the 3DS but larger and higher resolution.

Compared to the HTC EVO 3D, the Thrill has the edge in the 3D and CPU department. Benchmark tests show the Thrill as a top performer, Everything runs fast and games are very smooth. The Thrill screen produces a good 3D image with plenty of depth and a decent viewing angle, just like the Nintendo 3DS. Good quality 3D video really pops on this screen.

LG baked in some really nice 3D features and games that the competition is lacking. The LG "3D Space" app is a really cool 3D menu that nicely organizes all of the 3D content.

Three Free 3D games (NOVA, Golf, Asphalt 6) and a 3D book are preloaded on the Thrill, along with a number of 3D movie trailers and clips. The Thrill supports more 3D games than the EVO 3D at this time with about a dozen available. The 3D games look great and have a slider that allows you to adjust the effect. Use the '3D Games' App to buy new Gameloft 3D games. Modern combat 2: Black Pegasus(FPS) and Shadow Guardian(uncharted clone) are very impressive.

2D/3D Camera does a decent job but lacks a shutter button, I hope LG will allow the 3D button to work as camera shutter button in future update.

Youtube 3D is the killer app for this device. Tons of free 3D is available on Youtube, Search 'YT3D' to view all 3D video. Check out the DuoDive channel for an eye popping underwater experience.

Gingerbread update is coming in October, along with LG's 3D game converter which will add 3D support for about 40 more games!

Bottom line: Better 3D experience than the competition. LG - Please make a glasses free tablet!

cons: bulky, 1500mah battery(larger available), 512 Ram, 2.2

The main cool thing about the phone is the 3d feature . In my opinion it's way better than the evo 3d but there were a lot of things that were wrong with this device. The phone lags, need to use the task killer and the cache cleaner a lot to have this thing run smoothly , sometimes it lags by just waking up from stand by , my phone froze at least 5 times while attempting to open a video in the 3d gallery and also while attempting to send a text message (had to take the battery out in order to make it work again ,task killer or cache cleaner didn't work on this one), netflix doesn't work yet , the phone is running on froyo 2.2 (really? ) and the battery on this phone sucks (it's like driving a hummer ) . If you are buying a phone for picture quality , good performance and good call quality , you are in the wrong place but if you are looking for something to play games like the nintendo 3ds or take some 3d pictures , then this device might fit your needs after all. In my case even if I had the 3d on this thing , I ended up taking pictures in 2d because when I post them on facebook , who really have all thos requirements on their computer and their phones to watch a 3d picture or video? My suggestions are :

1.Samsung Galaxy S2 4g
2.Samsung Infuse 4g
3.Motorola Atrix 4g
4.HTC Inspire 4g
5.Iphone 4

Yup, had the throw in there the iphone . :)

I've worked my way through the 3rd Edition and am working on the Advanced volume and the new material in this volume. I like the level of detail provided! After finishing a chapter I feel as though I have a very good start on each topic and (between the two volumes) just about every important topic is covered. I find this book to be clearly written but challenging. The exercises at the end of each chapter help me to find out if I've really learned the material. I like the way that each file is explained in detail in a very structured and systematic way. Everyone should document code as well as the Dietels do! I like the way that this version focuses on Design Patterns and clearly explains the Archetecture of each program using the UML. Another good thing I can say about these books is that I haven't found any code that dosen't compile and run in Windows, Linux, Mac OS and Mac OS/X! The tools that come with the book are useful, but the Advanced volume required me to download most of the APIs from the SUN.com web site.I've asked several questions via e-mail and have gotten a great response from P.D. himself! Yes, they cost more than the others and can require an investment of time to complete! However, I have found them to be extremely helpful!!!!!
